Packing for a photo trip

Yesterday and today I have been packing for my next photo job that is up north in North Carolina. The long drive from South Florida always kills me, it takes a good 8 hours of driving just to get out of Florida. This is why a few years ago, my wife and I were considering a move to the Central Florida area, so my drive time would be cut in half. My wife loves Florida and can't say I blame her, I have made South Florida my home since I moved here from Jacksonville, North Carolina around 1985. We didn't sell our home when the market was good, so now we continue to live in South Florida and make the best of it till the economy gets back up and running like it needs to be in order to sell and make a major move to a new place. We still love the area where we want to move in Central Florida and we make a few visits there when we can, but to make a major move today to a small town where noone knows us and to start over would only set us back. So for now we do the best we can with where we are, and that is Fort Lauderdale.

I travel out of town and out of Florida for several events and photography jobs. In the summer when it is so hot and humid in South Florida it makes it that much easier to deal with when I can work up north during part of the hot summer months. I have been taking my son, who is now 14 years old on some of my summer trips and teaching him my business. He is showing some photography talent and is an absolute wiz on the computer as most kids today usually are. He has become quiet the graphic artist and has done a few logo's for me and for others. He has a bright future in some sort of 'art' industry career. I am proud of how my son has learned to work with me on some of my events as it can be a real challenge to find part-time helpers to go on extented road trips and live in hotels with me during out of State photography gigs.

This blogging is all new to me and as I get the hang of it, I know I will feel more comfortable with doing it. I just wanted to add my first POST and see how this all works. Wish me luck on this, my wife says I can do this but I still don't know. She has been blogging for years and it all seems so easy for her. I hope she will help me out with all this because I'm just not the writer type like she is. Nancy will you help me with my blog? Till next time...
